The Struggles Continue As The Knicks Lose Their Fourth Straight Game

The New York Knicks continue to struggle, losing five of their last nine games.

Sunday, December 27, 2015 versus the Boston Celtics, the Knicks fell short, losing 100-91.

Although Melo started the game scorching hot in the first-half, it simply wasn’t enough firepower to defeat the Celtics’ defensive scheme. Besides Melo and Kristaps Porzingis, no one in a Knicks uniform attempted over ten-shots. The lack of aggressiveness offensively was the cause of defeat. However, credit the Celtics defense; they are ranked third in the NBA in defensive efficiency. Celtics guard/forward Jae Crowder played pesky defense on Melo, forcing Melo into two offensive fouls in the third quarter, which kept the crowd energetic.

Throughout the game the Celtics managed to keep at least a ten-point lead. Until a late fourth quarter run by the Knicks, which cut the lead to five (90-85) with just over three minutes left to play.

However, four of Isaiah Thomas’ twenty-one points were the two crucial lay-ups that sealed the deal late in the fourth quarter.

Tuesday December 29th 7:00pm, the Knicks will host the (17-14) Detroit Pistons. The Knicks desperately need a win to prevent a six game losing streak. Also, this is a great opportunity for the Knicks, winning the next game can result in a (.500) winning percentage at home. They are currently (7-8) at Madison Square Garden.
