Owen Wilson Takes Another Swing in Apple TV’s ‘Stick’ Season 2

Rhea Seehorn, Peter Dager, Lilli Kay and creator Jason Keller discuss redemption, second chances and finding purpose beyond the golf course.

Apple TV’s Stick is back for Season 2, bringing more golf, personal growth and second chances.

Starring Owen Wilson as former professional golfer Pryce Cahill, the comedy-drama follows a group of unlikely teammates navigating the challenges of professional golf and life beyond the course.

In Season 1, Pryce found a renewed sense of purpose when he began mentoring Santiago “Santi” Wheeler (Peter Dager), a talented young golfer with the potential to make it big. Along the way, their relationship became about more than improving Santi’s game. It became a story about mentorship, trust and finding a reason to keep going.

One of the most compelling aspects of Stick is the contrast between Pryce and Santi. Pryce is fighting to reclaim the career he once had, while Santi is working to build a future in professional golf. Despite their differences, both are learning that success requires more than talent alone. Now, both characters have plenty left to prove.

For Santi, that means learning to believe in his own abilities rather than relying solely on the encouragement of those around him.

“Rather than Pryce discovering him and being like ‘I believe in you,’ now I’m doing this because I believe in me and it’s on me,” Dager said.

While Santi continues to develop confidence on the golf course, his personal life is also entering a new chapter. Lilli Kay returns as Zero, whose relationship with Santi has evolved from a budding romance in Season 1 into a more established partnership.

Now officially a couple, Santi and Zero are navigating a deeper level of intimacy and understanding as they grow together. For Kay and Dager, portraying that progression came naturally, thanks in part to their close friendship off-screen.

When asked how they developed their chemistry, Kay explained that there was little need to manufacture a connection. Their existing friendship allowed the relationship between Santi and Zero to feel authentic as their characters became more comfortable with one another.

“We really feel so safe with each other and feel so comfortable with each other. Now we get to explore this deeper side to their relationship that is more familiar and more settled,” Kay said.

While Santi is finding his footing both professionally and romantically, Pryce is preparing for a challenge of his own.

In Season 2, Pryce launches an ambitious comeback with the goal of becoming the oldest professional golfer to win the U.S. Open. It’s a seemingly impossible feat for someone whose professional career has long been behind him, but one that offers an opportunity to confront the mistakes and setbacks that once defined him.

For creator and showrunner Jason Keller, Pryce’s journey is about more than returning to competitive golf. It’s about understanding what led him to lose his way in the first place and whether he’s capable of overcoming the obstacles that have held him back.

The cast of Apple TV’s Stick reunites for Season 2.

“Pryce on many levels is a self-destructive guy. He’s a beautiful sort of failure that we meet in Season 1. We started to ask the question how is a guy like that built? If you could overcome the things that are holding you back, what would Pryce Cahill do?” Keller said.

That question becomes central to Pryce’s redemption arc, as he begins to recognize that talent and determination alone may not be enough to earn him a second chance.

Enter Amanda, a golf instructor played by Rhea Seehorn, whose arrival could be the missing piece Pryce needs to turn his ambitions into reality.

Amanda recognizes the talent that once made Pryce a professional golfer, but she also understands that reaching his potential will require more than simply believing he still has what it takes. Her approach challenges Pryce to take his comeback seriously, commit to the process and accept the guidance he’s spent much of his life resisting.

“Amanda is representing someone that does believe that you are that good, were that good and still are that good,” Seehorn said.

Rather than simply offering encouragement, Amanda represents an opportunity for Pryce to confront his shortcomings and rebuild the discipline necessary to compete at the highest level. She sees the golfer he once was, but more importantly, the golfer he could still become if he’s willing to put in the work.

Wilson echoed that sentiment, explaining how difficult it can be to recognize our own shortcomings, even when they’re obvious to the people around us.

“Sometimes it’s so easy to see what somebody else is doing wrong. You have to sort of open yourself up to getting some guidance and help. And that’s a powerful idea to me, that we all need help,” Wilson said.

It’s a fitting evolution for Pryce, who spent much of Season 1 guiding Santi toward his potential. Now, the former professional finds himself on the other side of that relationship, learning what it means to trust someone else’s expertise and accept help.

In many ways, Amanda becomes for Pryce what he once was for Santi: someone who recognizes untapped potential and refuses to let it go to waste.

That reversal reinforces one of the show’s central themes: No matter how far someone has fallen or how much time has passed, the possibility of starting over remains.

With Pryce chasing an unlikely comeback, Santi pursuing his professional ambitions and Zero navigating a new chapter in their relationship, Season 2 continues to explore the importance of perseverance, personal growth and the relationships that help people move forward.

Ultimately, Keller hopes audiences walk away with something more meaningful than the outcome of a golf tournament.

“I hope people watch this show and feel a little bit better about our world,” Keller said.

At its heart, Stick is a story about redemption, resilience and the belief that it’s never too late for a second chance.

Stick Season 2 premiered Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026, on Apple TV, with the first two episodes debuting that day. New episodes will follow weekly through Dec. 30.
