Pride month has finally arrived!
And while it is always a massive celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, it is also a reminder of how much work is still left to be done for queer rights and equality. In an industry where corporate Pride activations can easily feel hollow, Ilegal Mezcal is putting its money where its mouth is through its “Celebrating YOU” campaign, an ongoing initiative designed to raise awareness, celebrate individuality, and drive real impact through hands-on fundraising.
When it comes to driving authentic impact, there is no better partner than the iconic The Stonewall Inn and its official non-profit arm, The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative (SIGBI). Last week, Ilegal celebrated this partnership by taking over the legendary venue for an incredible night of community and advocacy.

The team at The Stonewall Inn turned out an impressive lineup of cocktails that used the spirit’s signature artisanal smoke to anchor some seriously bright, summer-ready drinks. The standout was a citrus-heavy mezcal margarita that added a lovely, earthy depth to the classic cocktail we know and love.
But the drinks were just one part of the equation. The night came alive with speeches, stellar drag performances (one of which was from RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant, Plasma), and a playlist curated by the iconic local collective, The Muses. During the evening, representatives from SIGBI took the stage to detail exactly how the funds raised from the partnership directly support vulnerable LGBTQ+ communities, particularly in areas where safe spaces are still incredibly hard to find. Brand leaders from Ilegal also spoke, emphasizing that supporting and empowering the queer community isn’t just a June marketing play for them, but a core part of their brand identity.

Reflecting upon this incredible night, it felt like the perfect blueprint for how a spirits brand should actually engage with a community. It wasn’t just another party, it was a room full of people using a shared moment to create tangible change. As we head deeper into the summer, keep an eye out for Ilegal’s “Celebrating YOU” events around the city.
