In an age where print media is increasingly digitized, newspapers like the fictional publisher in The Paper are struggling to secure the funding needed to stay afloat.
The series stars Domhnall Gleeson as Ned, a man determined to revive readership at a struggling Midwestern paper, all while managing the antics of a newsroom staff lacking the skills to be taken seriously as journalists. With the help of Mare (Chelsea Frei), a dedicated reporter, Ned begins to see a future for the paper, or at least a chance to get the job done as best they can.
Rounding out the cast are Sabrina Impacciatore, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key, and beloved Office favorite Oscar Nuñez.The Knockturnal spoke with members of the cast about how they dove into this fresh take on the workplace comedy while carving out a distinct identity for the series.
