A perfect night of wine and Oysters in a dreamy NYC apartment.
This Tuesday, we were invited to an exclusive experience held by Cloudy Bay Wine and Regarding Oysters Salon. Upon arriving at the top floor brownstone apartment, we were immediately greeted with a welcoming glass of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc. The event was held in a beautiful European farmhouse-style apartment adorned with fresh flowers and a delicious spread of canapés, cheese, and charcuterie.
As the night began, guests mingled amongst each other while wine flowed and cheeses were sampled. We got to learn about Cloudy Bay wines from senior winemaker Nikolai St George as we tasted three different types of Cloudy Bay signatures: the vibrant and zesty flagship Sauvignon Blanc, the wild and experimental Te Koko, and the fruity and rich Pinot Noir. The Te Koko is especially unique, with complex layers of peach, preserved citrus, and toasted nuts.

The guests were split into two groups, with half of us enjoying a wine tasting while the other half learned to shuck oysters with Georgette Moger-Petraske from Regarding Oysters Salon. Our group started the night with a delightful chat with Nikolai to learn about the origins of the wine, what makes it unique, and the evolving New Zealand wine scene. Now relatively tipsy, we switched over to the oyster shucking station with Georgette.
We learned the correct shucking techniques and enjoyed a dozen oysters as a reward for our hard work. Prepping our palates, we began with plain oysters and slowly worked our way up to different edible perfumes and mignonettes. The whole experience was truly unique and varied for every palate.
Cloudy Bay and Regarding Oysters Salon will be hosting another one of these events this Friday, 08/02, for $100 per person, and tickets can be found here.
