Actor Lance Gross returns to The American Black Film Festival for a conversation about fatherhood.
Not only have we seen him take on roles throughout his Film / TV career, but we also watched him step into the role of a husband and a father of two. The Knockturnal had an exclusive interview with Lance as he talks about juggling fatherhood while working on his career.
Check out the full interview below:Β
What is something that youβll do differently as a father that your real dad (or screen dad) might not have gotten right when raising you?Β
Lance Gross: Okay, so I feel like my [real] father did everything right so Iβm going to my screen dad, Curtis Payne. Curtis is a littleβ¦ I call tough parenting. I donβt think thatβs always the way. You can have real conversations with your kids and really connect with your kids. Thatβs how I choose to do things.Β
And whatβs your favorite thing to do with your children?Β
Gross: Everything, Iβm a big kid so I enjoy reliving my childhood through them. Iβm the dad who can go to Disneyland at the drop of a dime. I just love traveling with my kids and spending time with them. Time is something thatβs so precious and I pour into my kids every chance I get.Β
HowΒ do you juggle being a dad in the entertainment industry? I know both can be demanding.Β
Gross: It is demanding. You donβt just work in Los Angeles where weβre based, so I make it a point to if I have off days, itβs nothing for me to travel back home, even if I had one off day. Either that or I involve my kids. If Iβm shooting in Atlanta for three month, Iβll bring my kids out for maybe a month to spend time with me.Β
