We had the pleasure of sitting down with up and coming Indie Rock band The Morning Herald to discuss their experience as up-and-coming performers in NYC.
A few weeks ago, I was on my way to work and my friend Marcus called to tell me about this band he went to see live at the Bowery Electric. He kept singing their praises, and kept bragging excitedly shared that he chatted with the lead singer. Basically, I tell him to send me their song on spotify. This is what he sent me:
After throwing them on, I asked how they knew them to which he replied they were friends of friends. To be completely honest, this interview came out of nowhere, and I want to thank my friend Marcus for for introducing me to two members of The Morning Herald. I asked if they’d be interested in doing an interview and within two days we were on zoom talking all different types of musics.
Not a lot of people in the music industry are too laid back and lowkey I’ve gotten lucky with the last two bands I’ve interviewed. Zach Leone (Lead Singer) and Andrew McKiernan (Guitarist) were both very genuine dudes who do it because they love to —which definitely shows in their work (I linked below, don’t worry). During our brief 30 minute call, we discussed a bunch of different topics, but mostly kept it to music (i.e. who influenced them, which Radiohead album they would listen to for the rest of time, and even what some of the differences they found between performing and recording).
