Our Stay at the James Newbury Hotel!
This past weekend, the New York State tourism board (I Love NY) invited The Knockturnal to stay at The James Newbury Hotel in Coxsackie, New York. The hotel opened in August 2023 and features forty-seven guest rooms. We walked into a spacious, well-lit lobby with a bar and lots of seating. After checking in, we headed to our suite. Our impressive room had tall ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows with motorized shades and views of the forest foliage. Certain suites also have river views. A strip of mood lights lined the walls, and there were hanging bedside lamps. The room had a state-of-the-art HVAC system and a 50-inch flat-panel television with complementary in-home entertainment. The large bathroom had a walk-in shower and many lighting settings. There were soaps, conditioner, and shampoo by Lockwood, New York. Lockwood is a Hudson Valley-based company. We loved the Rosemary Geranium scent. Cotton towels were from St. Moritz.
The hotel has an excellent fitness center in a small adjacent building with weights, a treadmill, a stationary bicycle, and an elliptical. Guests can buy Pilates classes from Body Be Well Pilates. This weekend the fitness center also offered a complementary yoga class.
Each morning at the hotel guests were served a filling and tasty Continental breakfast, which included toast with butter or jam, yogurt, scones, fruit, and boiled eggs. The hotel also offered coffee and a wide array of tea.
For those looking to host a wedding or another social event, or a business meeting, the Wire Event Center behind the hotel is a fitting venue. It holds five hundred standing or two-hundred fifty to three-hundred people for weddings.
We enjoyed our stay at the James Newbury Hotel and highly recommend it. We found our room very clean, bright, and comfortable.
