On Wednesday, June 14, CEO of SHE Media Samantha Skey and guests celebrated the launch of the lifestyle media brand Flow. Skey presented a night of conversations about women’s health. The event took place at New York City’s Altro Paradiso. Skey presented videos of exclusive interviews and spoke more about the importance of the brand. Together, the speakers demonstrated the stigma surrounding women’s mental health.

Celebrities like Stacy London, Cynthia Rowley, Nitika Chopra, Elise Loehnen, and Bonin Bough appeared at the occasion. Jamie Lee, Kelly Corrigan, Robyn Youkilis, Lacey Tisch, and Ruthie Friedlander learned about women’s stories and health. Dr. Piraye Beim and Dr. Shieva Ghofrany animately conversed as well.

In one of the segments screened for attendees, Busy Philipps, Ilana Glazer, and Elaine Welteroth demonstrated the stigma surrounding women’s health. They participated in a word association exercise with women’s anatomy terms. After, they learned that the words are on advertiser block lists. Each partaker shared wisdom about women’s well-being. Philipps talked about the confidence that comes with age, saying “Being able to tap into your deep knowing of who you are and what you stand for and what you want to do in this world — that translates to a lot of freedom.” Welteroth gave advice on prioritizing wellness as well. “I can’t afford to jeopardize my health in pursuing any professional goal. I refuse to do that ever again. This is part of my deprogramming. It’s not easy, and it doesn’t come naturally to me to say, ‘I’m going to recharge today,'” said Welteroth. Glazer focused on wellness as well. She discussed the connection between physical pain and mental health. “It was like things were starting to come together, understanding that I really struggled with anxiety and depression and that this pain was connected to that. I really came to understand later how deeply true that was; how the mind-body oneness was how I could hurt so much but also begin to heal,” said Glazer.

Peloton star Emma Lovewell spoke about whole-life health in a Q&A session with trans advocate and media executive Jenn Renoe. Lovewell spoke about her new book Live Learn Lovewell and her career. When her mom became sick she dropped everything to help her keep her gardening business afloat.

London gave advice regarding health. She spoke about how to stay positive during menopause. “If anybody asked me what I’m doing or who I feel like I am becoming, it is a person who is trying to change the idea that there cannot be this positive culture around the stage of life. This is not just about how long we’re going to live; it’s how we’re going to live well,” said London. The event aligns with SHE Media’s mission.

SHE Media uses exclusive first-party data to identify the health topics and concerns that are most important to the Flow audience as well as the expertise and guidance from its advisory council.  Content pillars include:

  • Reproductive Health
  • Heart Health
  • Menopause
  • Pelvic Health
  • Health Access & Equity
  • Condition Specific Healthcare (cancer, migraines, autoimmune diseases)
  • Brain Health
  • Prevention & Longevity

The Flow platform will also host virtual and in-person events, including workshops, conferences and the Future of Health at SXSW, all featuring expert speakers and thought leaders in women’s health. These events offer women the opportunity to engage directly with medical experts, participate in interactive sessions and explore the latest advancements in healthcare.

The New York and Los Angeles-based lifestyle media company SHE Media progresses the representation of women with powerful content. The company covers health, career food, family, and entertainment. The flagship brands SheKnows, Soaps, StyleCaster, and BlogHer create lifestyle content that progresses inclusion and equity in media.

In 2021, SHE Media launched Meaningful Marketplaces, which allowed advertisers to buy media from minority-owned publishers and women. The effort helped independent media thrive through monetary funds. In 2023, SHE Media launched its new brand, Flow. The new digital and live media platform focuses on women’s whole health. It provides content, commerce, and community.
