Outfest will celebrate the organization’s 40th Anniversary at this year’s 2022 Outfest Legacy Awards Gala on October 22nd, presented by IMDb.

The LA-based organization has created a platform to establish and promote diverse stories that impact the LGBTQIA+ community. In celebration of the company’s mission, they will be honoring Janelle Monáe with the Trailblazer Award at the 2022 Outfest Legacy Awards at Paramount Studios. She will be recognized for her part as an artist who has shown continuous support for the LGBTQIA+ community through her creations. Monáe’s most recent project with Netflix, called Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, starring Daniel Craig, Kate Hudson, Kathryn Hahn, and Leslie Odom Jr, is set to release in December 2022. The organization will also honor Glamazon, Amazon’s diversity & inclusion network for LGBTQIA+ employees and their allies. They will receive the Guardian Award, which represents the company’s commitment to those within the community. Kerri Stoughton-Jackson will also receive the Jonathan Howard Legacy Award, honoring her leadership efforts as Outfest’s Deputy Director and her nearly twenty years of service. Each of these awardees will join a long list of past recipients who have made it their goal to inspire.

The evening will celebrate the efforts made by various members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community who are helping to create spaces for equality and inclusion. This milestone celebration will give credit to many artists, filmmakers, and entertainment professionals who are creating voices for those who have been voiceless for so long.
