On Friday, June 10, “God’s Time”made its World Premiere in the US Narrative Competition at the 2022 Tribeca Festival.
On Friday, June 10, The Knockturnal had the chance to attend the red carpet and movie premiere of “God’s Time” at Village East Theater. We got the chance to get to know the cast, a group of bright and talented individuals who were undeniably thrilled about the premiere of their movie. The red carpet was filled with excitement, as it was the directional debut of Daniel Antebi, as well as the introduction to the up-and-coming talent, Ben Groh (Film Debut), Dion Costellone (HBO’s The Deuce), and Liz Caribel Sierra (HBO’s The Idol).
“It was incredible; it was epic,” Ben Groh said when discussing what it meant for him to get to work with director and friend Daniel Antebi, “he is so good at what he does, and he is so talented.” The two men, along with friend and castmate Dion Costellone, collaborated in the creation of the movie, and the chemistry shines through both on and off the screen.
Our interview with Costellone was cut short as he ran to give Ben Groh a big hug in celebration.
The film follows the story of best friends and recovering addicts Dev (Ben Groh), Luca (Dion Costelloe) as they go on an adventure through Manhattan to stop friend Regina (Liz Caribel Sierra) from murdering her ex-boyfriend, a girl that they soon find out they are both in love with. The film, both heartwarming and thrilling, breaks boundaries as it portrays the reality of being in recovery, a phenomenon often portrayed negatively in films.
Expertly constructed, “God’s Time” delivers dark comedy that leaves viewers smiling even amidst the more intense scenes. “God’s Time” is an ode to friendship all while it takes viewers on a journey through the streets of Manhattan.
“God’s Time” will be available to watch at home starting on June 12.
