Exclusive: We Catch Up With The Casts From Your Favorite NBC Shows [Video]

Yay! Our favorite shows are returning to NBC this spring, which includes; “This Is Us,” “Chicago PD,” “Chicago Med,” “Chicago Fire,” “New Amsterdam,” “Super Store,” “Blind Spot” and my personal favorite “Good Girls.”

Chicago PD, Chicago Med, and Chicago Fire all have had riveting, nail-biting seasons. We caught up with cast members from each show about what we can expect. The Knockturnal spoke to Torrey DeVitto who portrays Dr. Natalie Manning, a pediatric and emergency resident on Chicago Med. DeVitto explains how Natalie balances the hectic, life-altering scenarios all while trying to maintain some degree of normalcy at home, “She’s going through so much; she’s dealt with really topical issues that I, Torrey, hold close to my heart. I mean she’s dealt with immigration this year. Now she’s dealing with this whole gun issue with her fiancé bringing a gun into the house, and where she stands about guns. You know she’s [gotten] into a helicopter crash, she got left on her wedding day. The girl is like—I mean how much more can she handle!”

Colin Donnell’s character, Dr. Connor Rhodes, has been able to find order in the chaos. Donnell reflects on being a part of Chicago Med, “We all know that we are very lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people, and be led by such a wonderful group of writers and producers.” Chicago Med is in midseason right now. You can catch all of the drama Wednesdays at 8 PM. Chicago Fire, now on its 7th season, is well known for cross-over episodes with Chicago Med and Chicago PD, and continues to get better as the show develops. We caught up with Eamonn Walker, who plays Battalion Chief Wallace Boden, as he shares his thoughts on cross-over episodes between the series. “Between Fire, Med, and PD, it’s all one Chicago for real, it’s all one big family.” Chicago Fire and Chicago PD continue their seasons on Wednesday on NBC.

The girls are back! Last season Good Girls ended with a cliffhanger and based on that last nerve-wracking scene, I want to know: does anyone die next season? The cast couldn’t answer my question directly, but The Knockturnal was able to get some hints out of Retta, who plays the main character Ruby Hill in the comedic drama. “A lot of people are going to die next season [laughs] No, there’s not a lot of people going to die, no one’s losing their job, or are they?” The laughs, troublemaking, and drama continue with season two beginning March 3rd on NBC.

Speaking of new beginnings, NBC renewed drama series New Amsterdam for their second season. The show was inspired by the memoir Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital written by Dr. Eric Manheimer. Last season ended with the central character, Dr. Max Goodwin—portrayed by Ryan Eggold—being diagnosed with prostate cancer. The Knockturnal chatted with Eggold about his character’s fate, “We’re getting to the part where he really is dealing with physical ailments and things where it becomes unavoidable. And he has to sort of contemplate some heavy stuff, and kind of confront some things that are really scary to him.” Freema Agyeman, who plays Dr. Helen Sharpe, feels her character mirrors many women trying to begin a family whilst maintaining a career, “Dr. Sharpe is this career-hungry individual but she wants—she wants everything. And I think women can have whatever they want it’s just about lining your ducks up and executing it in the correct order, and then you can have it all”. Season two of New Amsterdam continues Tuesday nights on NBC.

Superstore fans are still in for some super laughs as NBC renewed the series for season four. Along with the regular cast of oddballs, fans are going to see the show touch on serious issues including immigration. We spoke to Nico Santos who plays “Mateo” on the show, “I think that’s when our show really shines, is when we deal with real-life issues, and we like bringing real life and comedy together.” Superstore returns March 7th on NBC.

This Is Us, one of NBC’s critically acclaimed shows, continues its 3rd season. Zoe, played by Melanie Liburd, was introduced to the cast in its 2nd season. Since her arrival fans are obsessed with her story of triumph and survival. This season she reveals intimate details about her past to her love interest, Kevin, played by Justin Hartley. We caught up with Liburd to chat about playing a character whose past keeps haunting her relationship. “I think they’re falling in love. I mean they love each other, and I think that’s one of the reasons why she did open up to him because she really trusts him. He’s been so gentle and so kind, and I think they really compliment each other because he’s had his demons to work through. I think he’s helped Zoe get through some of her pain,” said Liburd of the dynamic. This Is Us airs Tuesday at 9 PM.

Last but not least, Blindspot opened up the second half of its season with Jaimie Alexander’s “Jane Doe” beginning to find out more about who she is. The Knockturnal asked Alexander about her character’s development, “It’s been a really fun character this year because it’s a bit challenging to play two people at the same time.” Blindspot continues on Friday nights on NBC.
