Concert Review: Kollektiv Turmstrasse Returns To Brooklyn with Johannes Brecht & Thugf*cker

The revered tastemakers of Brooklyn’s techno and house scene, Teksupport, brought three legendary acts – Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Johannes Brecht, and Thugfuc*er – to curate a night full of transformative beats.

Teksupport, the reigning underground event curation brand, has proven relentless with their end of year itinerary. Recruiting the likes of Adam Beyer, Cirez D, Cristoph, Rødhåd, Radio Slave, Solomun, Âme, and Green Velvet, it’s apparent that Teksupport has gone above and beyond to ensure that party-goers have all they need to wrap up year with a bang. The series of illustrious events kicked off with an intimate gig courtesy of Diynamic house/techno deities Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Johannes Brecht and Life and Death co-founder, Thugf*cker.

Confined by the walls of a staple venue in Teksupport’s arsenal – the rustic 99 Scott Ave. – guests were treated to only the finest selection of soul-drenched cuts, strung together by some of the underground’s finest. The multifaceted and classically trained German musician, Johannes Brecht, kicked off the function with a mesmerizing live set. Much like his Diynamic labelmates, Brecht’s sets are seldom a spontaneous conglomeration of pleasant records but rather a carefully crafted melodic journey that transports listeners to an alternate dimension. This one was no exception. A mélange of his organic productions compounded with deep undertones, his live performance served as the perfect appetizer for Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Thugf*cker’s night-cap.

Keep up with Teksupport to gain access to New York City’s top techno / house events – including a New Years Day bash with techno veteran, Victor Calderone. Topping this year’s top-tier schedule may seem difficult, but 2019 will see the brand take on the biggest competition they currently face; themselves.
