Last Week, The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) had their “On the Come Up” showcase in New York City.

The ASCAP showcase aims to highlight rising songwriters and producers. In previous years, the showcase has included some groundbreaking acts like Fetty Wap, Miguel, Eric Bellinger and more.

This year, the acts that took the stage included performances by the 070 Crew, Gemaine, Bri Steves, Juani, Akinyemi and more.

The 070 crew had a great energy and definitely gave a performance that left the crowd wanting to see more. Additionally Gemaine from Compton was an act whose vocals and sultry runs stole the hearts of the audience. Every-time he would hit a note, the audience would instantly “whoo” to his voice.

SOB’s is a venue that’s smaller than most and the intimacy of the audience with the performers really elevates the whole experience. When Bri Steves took the stage, she was performing with so much heart and she even ended up jumping into the audience to connect with her fans and perform with them.

The energy throughout the night was electric. It’s showcases like ASCAP’s showcase that reminds one of the beauty of music and uniting that many talented people in one room. It’s definitely something to celebrate and applaud.

Looking forward to what all the artists in the showcase will continue doing as well as the new talent that ASCAP will bring to light in the coming years.
