Actress and model Olivia Culpo hosted a rooftop dinner to showcase the TIMEX 2018 Women’s Collection on Tuesday night. Before sitting down for dinner with more than 20 influential women in media at The NoMad Hotel, Olivia answered questions about being the face of the Crystal Bloom Collection for the over 160-year-old company, her spring style go-to, and upcoming projects.

The Knockturnal: What is your favorite thing about the Crystal Bloom Collection?

Olivia Culpo: My favorite thing about the Crystal Bloom Collection is probably the Swarovski crystal fabric on the dial because it’s very different. They’ve never done anything like this before, it’s a very unique design. I love that it’s launching in the spring and basically it’s curated around blooming flowers and the colors are perfect for spring with pastels, and I love the versatility. There’s ten total. My other absolute favorite part of this collection is that it’s such a great gift because the price point is fantastic.

The Knockturnal: You have previously mentioned TIMEX as an “incredibly iconic American brand”. What do you think sets it apart from others?

Olivia Culpo: First of all, its history. It’s been around forever. And I’d have to say the innovation too. The Crystal Bloom Collection is always changing things, but it’s still TIMEX. It’s still classic and it’s still very much the brand. They are able to elevate and change without distorting the brand too much. Which I think is awesome, when a brand can remain iconic and also flexible with trends and creating new, fresh ideas but still maintaining the integrity of the brand.

The Knockturnal: Do you have any style tips for a bold spring look?

Olivia Culpo: I feel like spring is a happy time, so I feel like you see a lot of lace, you see a lot of pastels…light colors, pinks, neutral tones, whites. So, my favorite spring outfit would be a pair of high-waisted light denim jeans, my white Crystal Bloom watch, a pair of white pumps, and then some sort of a floral button-down. Maybe an off the shoulder floral lace top, something like that.

The Knockturnal: Last night you celebrated fellow model Gigi Hadid’s birthday party. What is one secret to a lasting and strong friendship?

Olivia Culpo: I think that honesty and communication are the best elements for friendship and loyalty too. Just being able to be a rock in another person’s life and not wanting anything in return for that. You know, it’s really about the end of the day…being there for somebody without any sort of motive or negative intention. Really having somebody’s back. Which I feel lucky because a lot of my friends are great, great friends to me. So, very grateful for that.

The Knockturnal: What’s next for you? Are there any upcoming projects that you are super passionate about?

Olivia Culpo: Yeah! Amy Schumer’s I Feel Pretty just came out last week, and then Reprisal is another film I have coming out with Bruce Willis. I’m also working on my restaurant…it’s done, but still…keeping up with my restaurant. Also keeping up with my website which is oliviaculpo.com. We just started a book club there, so I hope everybody checks it out. Also, my show coming out in the fall called Model Squad. One more thing is I’m still designing, and I just finished my capsule collection with Marled called Marled x Olivia Culpo and it’s pretty much already sold out.

During dinner, TIMEX’s Head of Trend Research Romane Galli spoke about how the brand is “taking strong steps to reclaim their heritage in the women’s market.” The watches in the Crystal Bloom collection range from $60 to $80. They include floral and crystal designs with white, pink, or blue bands. Each event attendee left with her very own piece from the collection, a pen decorated with Swarovski crystals, and other TIMEX treats.
