After a day of reading reviews and backlash over the 93rd Academy Awards, one thing remains true. This was a night of honor despite it all.
We are all trying to do simply the best that we can in the midst of a global pandemic. And, yes we are still in it. This is most apparent to people who work in entertainment. We were the first to be furloughed and we will be the last to go back to full-time jobs. And, if you have been lucky to day play on a movie set or work the stages on a live event this year it has been a paycheck that has been far and very little in between. We take these now rare moments in our career and we cherish them, as we so delicately do with all awards shows these days.
For the unforeseeable future, we who work in production don’t know what will lay on the road ahead. We are of course are filled with buoyant optimism. We line our pockets with hope for the day we can go back to set life without a two-hour earlier call time just to take a COVID-19 test. We fill our heads with prays that movie theaters will once again be seated with audiences who love entertainment as much as we do.
So, with that, we honor the 93rd Academy Awards. We honor the blood, sweat, and tears from the crew that actually worked last night to put it all together. From the PAs to the producers we thank you. We give gratitude to you in the same respect that you gave the time-honored tradition of the Oscars.
Here is to Hollywood’s favorite night and a look at the winners who captivated us for the evening:
