GRAMMY U® hosted a Masterclass featuring six-time GRAMMY® nominee Halle Bailey, presented by Mastercard. In an insightful conversation moderated by GRAMMY-winning artist Muni Long, attendees learned to follow their creative intuition and translate passion across diverse music industry sectors. Drawing inspiration from Halle’s multifaceted music career, the program explored the versatility of her artistry, from starring in blockbuster movies to earning her first solo GRAMMY nomination.
Muni Long started off the conversation by setting the intention for it affirming the word of the day to be alignment. She asked Halle, what it feels like to branch away from her sister’s everyday connection to which Halle answered “it really was a gradual transition to become okay with. Like I said earlier I’m the little sister, I’m the baby, I cling to her and I have all my life. She’s been like my safety blanket. So I think what started the slow transition was really Mermaid was the first project that I had gotten and been like oh my gosh I’m going to have to do this alone and I am scared.”
In terms of her love life, Halle spoke about motherhood “I’m obsessed with my baby. It’s insane. You always hear people say like oh yeah when you have a child its like the greatest thing. Its cliche, you hear that saying and you’re like okay cool. But no, it’s like what in the world just happened. And you see literally your heart is in your hands and this beautiful being. So I just feel like I have such greater purpose and so much more to do for him. And so much more that I want him to be able to experience. So it gives me a new motivation and drive and passion. For myself, for my family, for my life, everything.”
The event was live streamed in Los Angeles with a studio audience of GRAMMY U members. Livestreams appeared on the GRAMMY Awards’ YouTube and Twitch channels at 1 p.m. PT.
The event kicked off with a welcome mixer featuring sounds by GRAMMY U member DJ KAHLO, photo ops, and networking opportunities, creating an immersive experience for attendees to connect, learn, and celebrate.
