Stop-motion magic creators, Laika, bring new movie wonder to audiences with the trailer of “Kubo and The Two Strings”.

In an age where digital animation has taken over the box office, one studio remains strong with their stop-motion animation. Laika is an American animation studio that makes other channels of films but is best known for stop-motion. The studio has brought the public many other stop motions such as, “ParaNorman”, “Coraline”, and “The Boxtrolls”. Although the films weren’t box office hits, they garnered lots of praise for the artwork. For the studio’s fourth stop-motion film they will be releasing “Kubo and The Two Strings”, hoping to continue the legacy of wondrous stop-motion films.

The film follows the tale of Kubo, the protagonist, and his two-stringed samisen (a traditional Japanese instrument) who goes on a magical quest that involves defeating vengeful spirits. Kubo is the son of a legendary samurai and lives a humble life telling stories to the people of his seaside town. But this peace is completely destroyed when the young boy accidentally summons an evil spirit from heaven that is out to take revenge over an old grudge. While on the run from the spirit, the boy is trained by the magical Beetle and Monkey in order to save his family and to find out what happened to his once great warrior father.

The mystical film already has a powerful voice cast:

Kubo- Art Parkinson of Game of Thrones fame

Monkey- Charlize Theron

Beetle- Matthew McConaughey

Evil Sisters- Rooney Mara

Moon King- Ralph Fiennes

Many other well-known voices and actors are coming together for the film, such as George Takei, Brenda Vaccaro, and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa. This is the directorial debut for Laika CEO Travis Knight, and the trailer for the movie was released recently. Although a silent film version of a teaser was shared last year, audiences can now hear and see the sweeping scenery and strength of the voice cast. Shocking fans with stop-motion so seamless that it looks like CGI, “Kubo and The Two Strings” will not only continue the legacy of the Focus Features brand, but also be a grand entrance for Knight and his team. Audiences can be on the lookout for the magic tale of Kubo on August 19th, 2016.
