P1Harmony isn’t asking for your attention—they’ve already taken it. With their 8th mini album DUH!, the six-member group confidently declares their presence with the kind of bravado that doesn’t just echo early hip-hop—it reinvents it. Following the massive success of their first full-length album 때깔 (Killin’ It), which topped charts in Korea and the U.S., DUH! arrives as a tight, no-skips showcase of charisma, creative range, and genre-bending finesse.
The title track, “DUH!”, wastes no time making its intentions clear. Opening with hypnotic synths and fiery brass, it delivers an infectious 90s boom bap-inspired beat layered with playful bars. It’s fun, it’s loud, and it challenges the expectations of what K-pop “should” sound like. Jiung’s switch back to rap on this track is a standout moment—proof that he lives up to the title ace—and the chorus begs to be screamed at a concert: “Who’s that? It’s me. DUH!”
Following the explosive opener, “Pretty Boy” shifts the mood. With a sultry, Latin groove and a chorus that demands you repeat it—“Call me pretty, I’m a pretty pretty boy”—the song leans into allure and understated swagger. It’s a confident flex in a completely different direction.
“Murmur” taps into funky brass and fans of second-generation K-pop will enjoy the sound of this one. The track feels both fresh and familiar. Keeho’s smooth, expressive vocals shine on this track gliding over the funky beat– his voice brings the right mix of polish and retro charm to the track. One of the highlights on this track is Jongseob’s laidback delivery anchoring the song, his flow effortless as he throws subtle shade with lines like “Murmuring about me…mmm I hate these guys.”
If longtime P1eces were missing the early P1Harmony rock edge, “Flashy” is a treat. With punchy guitar riffs and a chantable hook, it feels like a spiritual successor to their early discography, but elevated. There’s a cheeky confidence in lyrics like “Sometimes my attitude’s so sassy”, and the band’s energy is electric.
Then there’s “Over and Over,” a synth-heavy EDM anthem built for arenas. Hypnotic saxophone riffs, sticky melodies, and a pulsating rhythm section make it a clear fan favorite in the making. Theo and Soul’s vocal tones shine here, showing how dynamic the group’s vocal color has become.
But perhaps the most sonically adventurous track— and my personal favorite— is “Work.” It’s a hard-hitting, genre-fusing standout that blends Jersey club, hyperpop, and even hints of UK garage. It’s chaotic in the best way—full of vocal filters, clever production quirks, and unexpected moments that highlight new sides to each member. It’s experimental, addictive, and pure P1Harmony.
Despite the wide range of genres—hip-hop, funk, rock, EDM, pop—there’s a strong cohesion to DUH!. That’s thanks in part to the members themselves: with Keeho, Jiung, and Jongseob contributing to composition, and Intak, Jiung, and Jongseob penning lyrics. Their fingerprints are all over this project, and it shows.
Each track feels like a new world, yet together, they create a singular, confident statement: P1Harmony knows who they are, and they’re unafraid to blur boundaries. DUH! It Isn’t just a mini album. It’s a manifesto—and the only appropriate response is in the title.
