NBCβs smash hit singing-competition series βThe Voiceβreturns Monday for a 13th stellar season with bigger voices and a brand new coach, Oscar and Grammy Award winner Jennifer Hudson.
Sheβs the first βThe Voiceβ coach whoβs competed in a TV-singing competition β I still cant believe she didnβt win β and sheβs the reigning champion judge of βThe Voice: UKβ. Needless to say, I like her odds in her first stint judging the US version.
The network screened the Season 13 premiere for a packed theater of journalists and fans.
βThis is a season of big voices,β said executive producer Audrey Morrissey, who was joined in the theater by Season 12 winner Chris Blue.
Blue recently signed a management deal with βThe Voiceβ coach Alicia Keys, who guided him to victory. He said while being on the show is fun, itβs no cake walk.
βMy hat goes off to everyone that even steps on that stage and gives it a shot,β he said.
The premiere episode features instantly-iconic performances. NYCβs Chris Weaver turns in a stunning rendition of βTry a Little Tendernessβ that takes the judges to church and back. He brings soul and, dare I say, tenderness to this classic tune, and turns both heads and chairs with his performance and backstory.

Iβve been a fan of the show since itβs inception, and Iβm more excited than ever. Kudos to NBC and βThe Voiceβ team for keeping things thrilling after all these years.
Be sure to check out the two-night premiere event Monday and Tuesday at 8/7c.
