Usher stars as Sugar Ray Leonard in an upcoming biopic titled Hands Of Stone. The film tells the story of the life and career of Panamanian fighter Roberto Duran (Edgar Ramirez) from his debut in 1968 to his retirement in 2002 at the age 0f 50.
Hands of Stone is nearly three years in the making, and the dedication Raymond put into embodying Leonard will be worth the watch.
“My commitment to this character demands that I not only physically get ready, but also become him,” he said in an interview with Men’s Health. “The hair, the personality, the manner he conducts himself in—all that. He’s an incredible man.”
The film is written and directed by Jonathan Jakubowicz. It stars actress Jurnee Smollet playing opposite Raymond as Leonard’s wife, and actor Robert DeNiro playing Ray Arcel, Leonard’s dedicated trainer.
Hands Of Stone will be in theaters August 26 2016, will you be checking it out?
