Principal photography has wrapped on the independent faith based film, The Reason.
The Reason is based on a best selling novel by the same name, by William Sirls. Sirls also wrote the screenplay along with Aviv Rubenstein and Richard Clark, Jr. The film was produced by Richard Clark, Jr., Paige Collins, Alan Powell, Derrick J. Simcox, and Jennifer Willingham, and directed by Randall Stevens.
The Reason was filmed during February and March in and around Augusta, GA, including on location at Children’s Hospital of Augusta, and is the first full-length feature to be shot in the town.
“The city of Augusta could not have been more friendly and accommodating to our cast and crew,” said producer, Richard Clark, Jr. “The visual resources of this area are endless, and we’re confident The Reason will be a better film for utilizing the backdrop of this town.”
The film stars Academy Award-winner Louis Gossett Jr. as Jim, a blind pastor who befriends a mysterious drifter with seemingly miraculous powers named Kenneth, who is played by Alan Powell. The Reason tells the story of a small town pastor, and a single mother with a sick child as they experience extraordinary miracles after a crisis strikes the small-town pastor. With the help of a divinely powerful mystery man, the protagonists can re-develop their hope, eventually help them reconcile the tragedies of their lives with the existence of their God.
The rest of the cast includes Beverly Todd from The Bucket List, Tatyana Ali from “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Kelly Carlson from “Nip/Tuck”, Burgess Jenkins from “The Young and The Restless,” Sara Antona from “House of Cards” and Ant-Man‘s Jessejames Locorriere.
