Three New Restaurants To Try in NYC This Spring

Spring has officially sprung in New York City and that means less ordering in and more stepping out to take advantage of all the great eateries this city has to offer. Don’t know where to start? Read below for some recommendations.

  1. Steak Frites Bistro

Steak Frites Bistro opened December 2022 and has already established itself as a go-to for those craving French food in New York City (read our original review here). The restaurant has expanded its operation and is now serving lunch during the week and brunch on weekends with offerings like Moroccan baked eggs, assorted croissants, and French cheeses. The deliciousness doesn’t stop there—come dinner, make sure to try Steak Frite’s new duck confit sandwich served on a lightly toasted brioche bun. The duck is seared in a way that avoids all hints of gamey-ness, and the confit sauce ties the meat and bread together for an experience that will have you coming back for more. Better yet—it comes with fries. Insider tip: this menu offering is served at the bar only and is limited to 12 sandwiches per night…but this sandwich’s deliciousness will make pulling up to the bar early more than worth it.

  1. The Juicy Lounge

Warmer temps in New York City call for refreshing beverages. Trade in your shot of gin for a shot of ginger at The Juicy Lounge, a newly opened juice bar in Hell’s Kitchen. The menu goes beyond juices and includes smoothies, acai bowls, pastries, coffees and teas. The best part? All of the drinks are made in front of you using only fresh fruit and vegetables—so no worrying about sneakily added sugars or dyes. After you’ve grabbed your juice make sure to check the Dalí-esque lips couch in front of the store for a juicy photo-op.

  1. GG Tokyo

GG Tokyo is a hot, new cocktail lounge in NoMad’s Park South Hotel. Perfect for date night or simply grabbing good drinks with friends, GG Tokyo has the sort of ambiance that turns a regular Tuesday night into one of sexy and limitless possibilities. The restaurant’s namesake comes from Tokyo’s Golden Gai district, described as “a collection of mismatched, tumbledown bars lining alleyways in a darkened corner of Shinjuku.” The district is famously known for its cocktails, neon lights and friendly atmosphere—three things that Manhattan’s GG Tokyo nails on the head. Once inside, you can choose to sit in the lounge where the wall is adorned with a colorful neon mermaid (the restaurant’s unofficial logo), in the dining room or at the sushi bar for a five-course tasting menu. GG Tokyo also offers entertainment throughout the month, including sushi and cocktail classes and live DJ performances. Our favorite things off the menu? The bushido cocktail and the miso-maple salmon. But don’t just listen to us—try it for yourself. You definitely won’t be disappointed.
