The Walking Dead Season 11, Episode 13 Review

Remember the “Here’s Negan” episode of The Walking Dead? That was a fantastic episode and was paced very will. Although there were great scenes on this week’s episode, the pacing was not good.

This is because “Warlord’s” story was all over the place. I appreciate the plot as Lance is still trying to reach out to small communities. However, his motives with this particular one is clear as they stolen weapons from him. So what did Lance do? He sends Toby and a bunch of Commonwealth Soldiers to deal with them. Unbeknownst to Gabriel and Aaron, this was not a community recruitment day as it is a mission for revenge.

While this mission was full of tension, action, and a good cameo by Michael Biehn, the plot of another religious cult does not interest me. This is because we just saw this with The Reapers not too long ago. At least Michael’s character is much more believable than Pope from earlier this season.

I did like the idea of not every community needs to be saved by The Commonwealth. The Walking Dead has had groups that were not so normal and this is one of them that The Commonwealth had to deal with. We learn through the flashbacks more of what lead to this high intense mission.

Aaron and Gabriel were the stars of this episode. I love these two when they are paired together for scenes. Not even Toby or the skulls in the back of that room they were in intimidated them. But I do have major complaints about how this episode was edited.

I wish this episode was structured chronologically instead of jumping back and forth in the timelines. I felt that it disrupted the flow of the plot as I had to keep track of when this was happening and when that was happening. Sure, they had the titles to explain what period it is, but It was jumping way too much. Add in the fact that it ended while the action was going on, it is a clunky episode despite it’s great acting.
