The Daily Front Row’s 11th Annual Fashion Media Awards Celebrates Glamour

As the saying goes, “you haven’t really made it in fashion until you’ve made it into The Daily.” And so it was especially true at The Daily Front Row’s 11th annual Fashion Media Awards, held at the iconic Rainbow Room atop Rockefeller Center.

Launching in 2003, The Daily Front Row (affectionately known to industry insiders as The Daily), is a fashion must-have when it comes to Fashion Week, chronicling the ins and outs of NYFW… from runway shows to front rows to backstage BTS. It is distributed daily (and in print!) during NYFW, while the rest of the year it is available online offering its special blend of fashion industry news mixed with fun features, party reports and more.

Their annual FMAs are one of NYFW ’s most hotly anticipated events and celebrate the very best in fashion — from designers to celebrities, models, and more. Kind of like fashion’s answer to the Oscars or the Emmys… but perhaps more chic.

Of course, during the pre-show cocktail hour (and in between checking out the fashions of the red carpet arrivals), guests were also checking out the fashionable featured cocktails for the event — created with Absolut Vodka, Codigo Tequila, and Kahlua — as everyone got in the party spirit. And what could pair better with a Cosmo made with Absolut Vodka,  a margarita crafted with Codigo Tequila, or an Espresso Martini with Absolut Vodka and Kahlua…  than a sweet treat from La Maison Du Chocolat that was passed around as a pre-show hor d’oeuvre?

Attendees made their way throughout the space with drinks and chocolates in hand, as they snapped pics at special photo activations provided by Keratase and Fabletics, along with displays from LAGOS Jewelry and GUESS’ newest watches.

SNL’s Chloe Fineman, dressed in Thom Browne couture, emceed the star-studded award show in front of an audience that included Rihanna, Jerry Hall, Selma Blair, Debbie Harry, Sofia Coppola, Julianne Hough, Ashley Graham, Pat Cleveland, Amber Valletta, Alek Wek, Rebecca Minkoff, Carolyn Murphy, Anna Sui.

Models Alek Wek, Amber Valletta, and Carolyn Murphy kicked things off by presenting Trey Laird with the show’s first award for Campaign of the Year for Donna Karan New York’s IN WOMEN WE TRUST campaign. 

But perhaps one of the biggest moments of the night was when Rihanna surprised everyone with an appearance and presented Katie Grand and Jahleel Weaver with Perfect Magazine of the Year.

Another pop music icon, Debbie Harry, presented pal Anna Sui with her Lifetime Achievement Award. Fashion and friendship are the ultimate mix and Pat Cleveland presented longtime bestie Jerry Hall with the Fashion Legend award.

Selma Blair, introduced by Julianne Hough, accepted her Style Star of the Year award, in yet another big highlight of the night.

Other winners included newcomer Ana Sky,  Steven Lagos, and more.
