NYFW
Malibu comes to NYFW this year at the Tadashi Shoji Spring/Summer 2018 runway show. We were on the scene with MAC Cosmetics, getting a first-hand look at the soft, sun-kissed, dreamy looks that esteemed makeup artist Pep Gay created for the show whose glamorous runway looks celebrated the enduring mystique of Southern California.
The effect is dramatic enough for the NYFW catwalk but so soft that it is even wearable on the streets of the city.
Inspired? We were too so we sat down with the famed makeup artist to get the beauty scoop on how to bring these looks into your own daily routine.
Let’s Start With Those Dramatic Eyes!
To keep the focus on the eyes and create a fresh look for summer, Pep Gay and the MAC Pro Team kept it boldly beautiful with soft washes of teal pigment dusting the eyelids. Blend at the crease to follow the shape of the eye, being careful not to leave any lines or creases. Apply the same color underneath the lash line and blend softly here as well. Inside the eye, use the high-definition Cyan pencil to really make the eyes pop before adding an olive and white gold pigmented highlighter in the inner corners of the eye. Try White Gold. Top it off with a coat of mascara on top and bottom lashes. Brows were brushed up and set into place with a clear brow set.

That Face:
Soft, pink, swoon-worthy blush was applied to keep the look fun and light and still very wearable on the street—even with so much color for the eyes. Naturally, to prep the face beforehand, the artists applied Face & Body Foundations as well as Studio Finish Concealer wherever needed. Loose powder was dusted onto the T-zones to keep the makeup set.
The Perfect Pout:
Clear lip gloss finishes the sweet look perfectly.
