80 Floors up on New York City’s most iconic building had the most beautiful sounds emerging from it on Thursday morning, as Norwegian artist Sigrid performed for an intimate crowd and a beautiful view. The pop singer first found fame in 2017 and received mass praise for her debut EP Don’t Kill My Vibe. Her music is so heartfelt and true to herself and her style, and a venue as bright and open as the Empire State building was absolutely perfect for her.
Sigrid opened with the powerful song Head On Fire, a collar with singer Griff that’s received widespread attention for its heartfelt relatability. She continued on with It gets Dark, and Don’t Kill My Vibe, along with other incredible songs, both ones she’s released and ones that will be on her upcoming album. She had such a beautiful presence to her and would tell sweet stories in between songs, making the whole room smile and light up with her kindhearted demeanor. She told stories from her current tour and show the night before, introduced the audience to her band, and even laughed talking about her bandmates new guitar and the stories of how they all met. It creates such a personal relationship with the art when an artist has the ability to be open and vulnerable with their audience, and Sigrid has mastered the art of doing so.
The show gave us access to the all new immersive viewing exhibit on the 80th floor of the building. The beautiful room is circular with massive windows surrounding it, and a beautiful stage in the middle. The walls are lined with little new york city doodles, and the whole space is striking. Though our views were limited due to the fogginess of the day, it was still so beautiful to see! We headed up to the top floor observation deck after the show to see New York from its highest and most beautiful point. It’s such a brilliant experience to see out city from so many different heights!
Sigrid provides a heartfelt, relatable and totally can’t miss immersive music experience. Weather you catch her on tour, listen to her new album, or check her out, we highly recommend. Hear all about her and her music here!
