In this day and age where R&B/Soul music has made a big comeback after initially forgotten about once the 90’s and early 2000’s came to an end, Dana Williams is creating her own lane in the reemerging genre.
With a warm and sultry tone that is often compared to the likes of legends Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, the Los Angeles native is consistent in her vocal delivery. In 2014 she released her first EP in 2013 entitled The Lonely One and placed 4th in the U.S. talent competition show Rising Star.
Since then, she has collaborated with some of Hip-Hop’s most talented MC’s including Freddie Gibbs, Rejjie Snow & Amine and Boogie, and even won 4th place on the U.S. talent competition show Rising Star.
She performed for an intimate group of fans at a private performance at the SoHo House in NYC last night, where she sung a collection of her most popular songs like Preach, Worst in Me and her latest single Holiday.
Her usual soul-stirring and solemn tone takes a step back in Holiday, an upbeat yet soulful summer tune. Holiday is only one of at least 60 songs that the singer-songwriter says she wrote over the course of 2 months.
