This past fashion week our first stop was Creatures Of The Wind. We were pleased to see some of this season’s trends on the runway already. One of them being metallic nails. Danielle Candido, one of the lead nail stylists for Morgan Taylor Nails, wanted to create a edgy, cool but sexy vibe for the Creatures of the Wind girl.
With its french manicure influenced design, this nail style is a reverse version of that where the root has a french accent and the base starts at the bottom of nails. Danielle uses “Could Have Foiled Me” as the base coat and “Brassy Crescent Moon” along the cuticle, “Give Me Gold” was layered by “Bronzed and Beautiful” to give it this effect.
The inspiration behind this was metal meets metal. This season was all about a Creatures Of The Wind lady being book smart but also street smart — classic against against a new kind of feel. There was no top coat because they wanted the luster of the Morgan Taylor polish to stand on its own. Real metal isn’t really to shiny and they wanted to keep original texture. Candido stated “We had production nails pre-ready because to do all the models before the show would be tedious and time consuming.”
