‘Star Trek Beyond’ Releases Its First Trailer

Star Trek’s next iteration Star Trek Beyond now has a teaser trailer. From the small glimpse delivered in the trailer it seems the crew is in for some serious trouble and challenges. The trailer features them without a crew or ship hanging off of cliffs and running from enemies all with the build up of Beastie Boys “Sabotage” in the background.

Directed by Justin Lin and starring Idris Elba, Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Simon Pegg the movie is set to be released on July 22, 2016. Despite being the third movie into the series Birth Movies Death reports that Star Trek Beyond will put the major events in Star Trek Into Darkness of to the side in a way. Lin told the site, “[Co-writers]  Simon [Pegg]  and Doug [Jung] and I have spent some time on that. [laughs] Star Trek has been around for 50 years, and every filmmaker that comes on has a different point of view, and it’s a universe that can support many points of view and journeys and adventures.” He went on to say they would not address that point of view, but won’t ignore it completely.

Trekkies have a long wait ahead of them, but there are sure to be more trailers and plot reveals soon. You can watch the teaser below and on Paramount’s Youtube Channel.
