Sprayground Runway SS24: Eclectic, Edgy, and Ever So Innovative

Sprayground showcases their newest collection of clothing and accessories at the Veronika at the Fotografiska Museum in New York.

Most people, when they hear “fashion week”, may not immediately come to think of streetwear. Amongst all the Chanels, Diors, and Hermeses of the world, one name to keep an eye out for is Sprayground, a brand focused on quality, function, and design. They’re certainly one of the most innovative streetwear and travel designers yet.

Sprayground came onto the scene in 2011 when they designed their “Hello My Name Is” backpack and quickly began revisioning backpacks from being simple and plain, to becoming edgy and vital accessories to any outfit. Sprayground portrays itself through art, and uses its artistic and creative designs to tell a story through inspiration, pop-culture, details, colour, and thought-provoking concepts that push the limit.

The designs at their runway show certainly lived up to the promise. The looks ranged from sexy gowns to army-inspired looks, to designs that one could imagine come from the marrying of Drew House and Yayoi Kusama. Designs did not shy away from using bright and vibrant colours and going big and bold with their thinking. Many of the outfits gave a nod to Sprayground’s roots, with models carrying backpacks, teddies, and various plushies sewn into the dresses. So in spite of all the colour and creativity, the designs stay true to Sprayground’s roots. The essence of streetwear was not lost.

The show itself was held at the Veronika at the Fotografiska Museum. Invitees were welcomed into a beautifully decorated room with high ceilings, modern chandeliers, and floral decor. The smell of fresh roses wafted about as attendees began trickling into their seats. Throughout the show, the music was upbeat and certainly reflected the energetic and confident attitude of the collection.
