Skyzoo is a New York emcee through and through.
His tracks breathe heavy like smoke escaping NY manholes and stay on your mind like the smell of a black & mild. Sky’s essence is so true to himself, it produces music that so pure and concentrated that it can’t falter.
With his latest release Music For My Friends, Sky went even deeper into his persona and pulled out an all around solid project. He played to his strengths so well that in a way it still pushed the boundary of what he’s comfortable with, even singing (well at that) on the tail end of “Women Who Can Cook”.
Now Sky’s come forward with a music video for the track “Playing Favorites”, giving Christon Gray’s smokey vocals the appropriate setting in well…a smoke filled room. The visuals reinforce that classic feeling the record has, a product of hearing Sky rhyme so smoothly over a jazzy beat toting a horn section that’s to die for. His flow is only matched in it’s velvet-ness by Christon’s vocals, carrying up like the smoke from their cigars.
If you enjoy the track, support Skyzoo and peep the full album.
