Red Bull Sound Select set up stage in Brooklyn, New York last Wednesday at Baby’s Alright. The energy drink company expanded their reach several years ago by creating showcase events designed to accelerate the career of up-and-coming music artists with events across more than 18 cities and has even expanded outside of the United States.
At the NYC venue, RBSS brought out musicians Doug Hream Blunt, Shabazz Palaces, and, Midwest MC, Finding Novyon.
The Knockturnal got to sit down with hip-hop duo Shabazz Palaces to find out about their accomplished hip hop careers as members, Ishmael Butler and Tendai “Baba” Maraire headlined the showcase. Baba, who is the son of accomplished musician, Dumisani Maraire, told us about his musical influences and hopes for the future while Butler gives us the low down on why he won’t be planning a legacy.
