Q-Tip & Slum Village Finds Lost J.Dilla Treasure in Remix for “Hold Tight”

Back in 1998, now Detroit legends Slum Village made a huge debut with the release of their now legendary debut ‘Fantastic Vol.2’. Now, leading into the album’s 20th anniversary, left on the cutting room floor is a long lost treasure remix produced by the late-J.Dilla for the album-cut, “Hold Tight”.

Also featuring legendary recording artist, Q-Tip, The Dilla remix is a lost piece of history that both old and new fans will cherish from beginning to end. Slum Village recalls discovering the lost remix with a sense of pride and mystic. After much thought, Slum decided to release the material, so fans can hear what has been enjoyed for years (privately) in-house.

“The experience of listening to these songs, made all the hard work worth it,” says T3.

“…Listening to the music gave me chills,” say Young RJ (who joined SV in 2010).

Slum Village is re-emerging with a tour this summer, honoring this 20-year release. The group is now comprised of T3 and Young RJ and the tour will feature special surprises along the way.
