Pronovias Master Class with Celebrity Stylist, Micaela Erlanger

Upon entering the Pronovias Flagship store, we were instantly surrounded by heavenly ivory clouds of tulle and lace. With cava in hand, we were led to our seats along a pristine white runway, and handed clipboards with pencils. Class was in session!

While we watched several dresses from the latest collection grace the runway, Micaela Erlanger gave us the background and styling advice for each style. She is a renowned celebrity stylist, who has styled celebrities such as Lupita Nyong’o, Olivia Munn, Gal Gadot, Hilary Swank, to name a few. We had the opportunity to have her teach us her tips and tricks for weddings. See below for her top ten pieces of bridal advice:

1. Add a waist stay (gross grain ribbon sewn to the inside of the dress) to create more of an hourglass shape. 
2. Add custom nude fabric underneath a lace dress to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions. 
3. It’s important to have multiple fittings. 
4. Pay extra attention to hemlines. 
5. Power mesh can be excellent to line your gown or as undergarments. 
6. Take photos and videos during the video and look at them closely. Try every angle and ruffling your dress. Ultimately, the photos are what’s going to live, so you want to make sure the dress photographs well. 
7. If you are aiming for a more seamless look, consider sewing in your underwear or building a bodysuit inside. 
8. Be open-minded. Try something on that doesn’t necessarily look right on the hanger, you may surprise yourself. Worst case, you can take it off. 
9. Come with a little bit of inspiration. Do your due diligence and research.
10. It’s important to choose a comfortable shoe with support. For example, an ankle strap or lower pitch. Make sure to walk your shoes in the store for a while. Foot Petals and gel inserts can also help increase comfort. Always have a back up pair.
