The first words that I said upon watching this week’s Power Book II: Ghost is “That escalated quickly.” I said that once the news about Zeke’s real age became public during his press conference.
Then later in the episode, Effie and Brayden were involved with kidnapping Lauren. That was a dark turn with the characters that I did not expect to see at all. It also proved that Effie was going to do whatever she wants to get what she wants and that is, Tariq. In my eyes, she removed the competition. Big props for Gianni Paolo and Alix Lapri for bringing the suspense and tension on that scene. I also believe that this episode is the best I’ve seen of Alix in her role.
I also felt bad for Zeke as he was put in this situation without knowing that it would leak to begin with. Let’s hope that we do not see him go to the dark side on Power Book II: Ghost.
Tariq not only shared the photo evidence for Rashad to make Tariq look good on the trial, but he also messed up his bond with Brayden. I do not know if it is me, but I got a sense of Ghost and Tommy Egan vibes when Tariq and Gianni have an argument. Michael Rainey Jr. and Gianni Paolo are friends in real life so every time they have a big scene like this, they bring out the best in each other
Now that Mecca knows that Monet’s family stolen his product, he is going to be out for blood. There is one more episode left of this season of Power Book II: Ghost. I assume that all of these stories will be wrapped up on the finale. This episode is great and it is setting up for the major finale! By the end of it, I had to question who is on who’s side and I like those type of stories on television.
