Power Book II: Ghost Season 4, Episode 6 Review

This week’s episode of Power Book II: Ghost was a powerful reminder of what makes the show so engaging, even as we approach the final stretch of the series.

One standout element was the introduction of Carter as a villain. In contrast to previous antagonists like Jukebox or Ray Ray from OG Power, who were ruthlessly cold-blooded and unhesitant about killing innocents, Carter is driven by a warped sense of righteousness. His belief in his own moral high ground makes him a particularly compelling villain, and it’s a shame we didn’t get to see him in this role earlier, given this is the final season of Ghost. There’s so much potential in his character that feels rushed with the season’s limited time.

The episode did a commendable job tying together various plotlines, a feat that the show manages well. The interconnectedness of characters has been a strong point, making the story feel cohesive. While some may disagree, I appreciate how rarely the characters feel disconnected from each other.

The mid-season premiere was intense, with Tariq delivering a brutal and shocking scene where he stabs Zion, leaving him on the brink of death before finishing him off with a shot. On the other side of the spectrum, Diana faces her own nightmare. After refusing to align with Officer Felicia’s scheme, she is violently assaulted, with the added distress of being pregnant. The attack targeting her stomach heightens the emotional impact of the scene. Additionally, the breaking of the snow globe earlier in the episode was a foreshadowing for the dramatic events that unfolded by the end.

It’s curious that Cane hasn’t been involved in the Carter storyline, considering his place within the Tejada family. Also, Carter’s lack of knowledge about Noma seems odd given his position. Moreover, Carter’s recent actions appear to contradict his own rule of not harming innocents, as evidenced by his attack on Kamaal.

Looking back, it feels like Carter and his task force would have been better introduced earlier in the series, perhaps even back in Season 1, allowing for a deeper exploration of this storyline. It’s one of the most intriguing plots the show has offered.

As the second half of Power Book II: Ghost kicks off explosively, it serves as a stark reminder that there are only four episodes left. The show continues to deliver intense drama and memorable moments as it nears its conclusion.
