The Founders of Philly Fashion Week – Kevin Parker and Kerry Scott – opened a storefront filled with 27 independent designers inside The Philadelphia Fashion District on April 5th, 2024. The 5,800-square-foot space is called Maison X Philly Fashion Week.
“Maison means house of and this is the house of Philly Fashion Week,” says Parker. The storefront holds local and international designers who will present their designs in Philly Fashion Week. After the designers present their pieces on the runway they can bring their entire collection to Maison for sale. Parker and Scott set a goal to create a space for designers to build their brand and help them gain the proper feedback for their business.
The duo said they look at Maison as a hub to help designers grow and receive a better understanding of retail. They have their main retail floor where you can find elegant garments to unique streetwear. If you stroll through the couture closet and find custom couture, one-of-a-kind pieces, and bridal wear. Some of the designers in this area of the store have been featured in fashion magazines like Elle and Harper’s Bazaar. Local news stations in Philadelphia like 6abc, CBS 3, and NBC 10, have also featured designers housed in Maison.
Kevin Parker and Kerry Scott thoroughly thought out what designers would need to run a successful brand. They mention the importance of marketing which is why Maison offers a content studio space for designers. This area has various backdrops so designers can have a creative space to create their lookbooks and content for their brands. In the back store is their maker space, with industrial sewing machines, seamstress to help produce for designers, and availability for alterations for guests.
Maison X Philly Fashion has something for everyone regarding price, size, and styling. There are two seasons of Philly Fashion Week and each season will hold designers for six months. This year will mark the founders’ 19th season of fashion week in Philadelphia. Philly Fashion Week is September 18th-22nd starting with a PFW Official Kick-Off Party, Runway Shows, an Avantgarde Ball, and a NextUp Trend Show.
