The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance throws a garage sale like no other.
The organization’s annual event was held at Pier 17 in New York City and this year’s event was definitely one to remember.
The OCRFA hosts Super September every year as a way to raise money for the charity. The event consists of dozens of vendors from alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet and Dooney and Bourke. The designers come together and offer their goods at a discount while guests enjoy gourmet bites, champagne and other spirits. Sponsors such as InStyle and United Airlines offered giveaways while the Tony Award winning cast of the stage play Dear Evan Hansen performed. The enormous venue overlooking the pier even offered a mini golf course for guests enjoyment.
The OCRFA is the leading ovarian cancer advocacy, research and patient support organization in the world. Its mission is to help research, treat and beat the cancer. They also sit as the largest non-government funded organization of ovarian cancer research.
Social media influencer Leckie Roberts was in attendance along with super model Christie Brinkley. The CEO of the organization Audra Moran was in attendance and took time out to speak exclusively with The Knockturnal about the event.
“This is our annual event and I always look forward to the shopping,” said Moran. “I don’t shop, but I love looking around at all the vendors, it’s all for a good cause.”
The OCRFA is the largest private funder of ovarian cancer research in the world. The organization also advocates in DC for federal funding for research and has raised over $100 million dollars since since they stared in 1994 and according to Moran they have no plans of slowing down. “We won’t stop until there is a cure,” she said
