If you live in LA long enough, you’ll learn that The Highlight Room at the Dream Hotel is one of the best nightlife experiences in the world. That’s why when I got the invitation to Rémy Producers I knew I had to go.
My Uber arrives 5 minutes after I call it. I get in, make small talk, and check a few emails. Before I know it we’re there. I thank the driver for his service and walk towards the table full of event coordinators. There’s four of them so I walk up to the one that smiles. She places the VIP band on my wrist and her colleague escorts me towards the elevator and presses the button to the top floor.
The first thing I notice stepping out of the elevator is the unique 360 view of the city. It’s really second to none. Next I take in the ambience and the curated Rémy Martin signage. It’s first class all the way. I’m a bit early so I chow down on the fresh appetizers and mix and mingle.
The clock strikes the magic hour and I start to notice some of the music industry’s biggest names, including comedian LIL REL HOWERY, actress PARKER MCKENNA, actor DEMETRIUS SHIPP JR. , radio host WAYNE BROWN, and lifestyle influencer MISS DIDDY. It’s only fitting for an event of this magnitude hosted by Grammy-award winning Super Producer BOI-1DA.
Season Six of RÉMY PRODUCERS, the tournament-style competition between up and coming music producers, got started with a toast of premium Rémy Martin cocktails.
As the crowd starting ushering in, the judges, Boi-1da alongside Music Business Executive STEVE LOBEL and Season Five winner MILO, set the stage of what beats to expect from the six producers competing for a producers deal with So-So Def Records led by hip-hop legend and Grammy-award winning producer JERMAINE DUPRI.
I was excited to hear what they had in store and as the first beat played in the luxury Highlight Room everyone was pleased they were in attendance.
All of the producers had awesome beats but there could only be one winner determined by the highest crowd noise. That winner turned out to be none of than CLYDE STROKES. He earned the opportunity to compete in the national finale in Atlanta later this month.
It will be tough competition but I will be rooting for him.
