A leading brand in China, Peacebird took New York Fashion Week by storm on February 13th with a men’s runway show in Pier59.
The urban contemporary brand, created by Zhang Jiangping in 1995, used a diverse group of models to display the new collection which is baggy streetwear featuring man bags and body chains. By layering the clothes on each model, audience members were able to get a sense of how the clothes are meant to be worn, and the overall vibe of Peacebird men.
While playing with plaid, or tartan, camouflage, and even cheetah print, the brand offers men more than the average, solid color pallet. Instead, the collection mixes dark bases with pops of color. Peacebird’s line also mixed Chinese and Western culture by paying homage to Sesame Street; a cool theme hinted at by the Cookie Monster stuffed animals gifted to the audience at the beginning of the show. Audience members also left with a Peacebird Sesame Street crew neck tee and a box of animated brooches.
While the looks were very similar in terms of fabric, the way they were layered on and worn by the models showed tons of possibilities for how each piece can be worn; dressed up or dressed down. Head over to the Peacebird website to check out the collection and support the brand.
