If there’s one thing we love about Fashion Week, it’s the multitude of events centered around fashion and creativity. This past week, we attended the Layers V2 Art Exhibition curated by Dominique Oliveto. After the success of her pilot event in Los Angeles last year, the photographer and creative director launched the V2 exhibition from September 7th to 12th, with the opening ceremony on the 8th. Some notable attendees included rapper Toosi, former WNBA star Renee Montgomery, Sydney Colson, Kevon Looney, and professional tennis stars Francis Tiafoe and Ayan Broomfield.
Oliveto is known for her ‘edge and fresh perspectives’ by taking average moments and experiences and making them look artful. For this launch, she featured some of the league’s best and favorite athletes, such as Renee Montgomery, Sydney Bordonaro, Kari Cruz, Jaylen Brown, Jaren Jackson, Immanuel Quickly, Shaq Harrison, Chelsea Gray, AJ Johnson, Chloe Kitts, & many more.
But what contributed to the special evening is the dope networking space it has become with the high number of creatives in attendance. At the Moxy Chelsea on Herald Square, togetherness and intimacy filled the space, which was the intention. “The goal of Layers is to be more than just an exhibit, but an experience that brings like-minded people across sports, fashion, and the larger creative community,” she says in an Instagram post.
The evening also included an array of delicious cocktails made by Crown Royal and Crown Royal Apple named in the theme of the event, like the ‘Mixed Media’ and ‘The Layers Lemonade’ as well as Guayakí Yerba Mate energy drinks that guests enjoyed throughout the night.
