Los Angeles, CA – I had the pleasure of attending the world premiere of “LA USURPADORA: THE MUSICAL” on Tuesday, April 4th, at Regal Cinemas LA Live. The premiere was an exciting event that brought together a star-studded cast of actors, musicians, and filmmakers.
Isabella Castillo (El Señor de los Cielos), Alan Estrada (¿Conoces a Tomás?), Shane West (A Walk To Remember), Valentina (RuPaul’s Drag Race, Rent), and many others were in attendance. Director Santiago Limón and executive music producer, Sebastian Krys, were also present.
“LA USURPADORA: THE MUSICAL” is an original movie musical that takes place in both Mexico and the United States. The film features hits from the Latin music of the 90s, and the dialogue and music are in both Spanish and English. It’s a tale of two identical twin sisters separated at birth and unknown to each other, one poor but truly decent, the other rich, conniving, and generally awful. A chance meeting brings them together in Las Vegas and soon their lives are hopelessly intertwined. The film stars Isabella Castillo, who plays both Valeria and Victoria, and Alan Estrada, who plays Carlos Daniel.
“LA USURPADORA: THE MUSICAL” is full of Latino hits such as La Vida Es Un Carnaval, Mi Tierra, Dame Otro Tequila, Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, Livin’ La Vida Loca, Vuelve, Con Zapatos De Tacón, Cosas Del Amor y No Me Ames, among many others.
The film was produced by Pantelion Films and The Lift Entertainment, with Matt Walden and Paul Presburger as producers, Priscila Hernández as choreographer, and Santiago Limón and María Hinojos as screenwriters. Executive producers include Aaron Rivera-Ashford, Avelino Rodríguez, and Patricia Sánchez.
“LA USURPADORA: THE MUSICAL” will premiere in theaters everywhere on April 7, 2023.
