Girls5Eva is BACK! Season three of the musical comedy series, produced by Tina Fey and Jeff Richmond, is coming to Netflix on Friday, March 14th, along with seasons one and two, which previously debuted on Peacock.
On Friday, Netflix rolled out the purple carpet at the Paris Theater in New York to celebrate the reunited 90s girl group (composed of Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Paula Pell, and Busy Philipps) returning for a third season. We got the chance to speak with show creator and seasoned comedy writer Meredith Scardino (previously, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) on her experience writing for four extremely talented women.
The event kicked off with a surprise performance from Girls5Eva, who performed on a stage in front of the Paris Theater. (Wickie and Dawn’s transparent grand piano was there, of course.) The girl group sang their season one hits, including “4 Stars,” “Dream Girlfriend,” and “Famous 5eva.”
Following the performance, the Paris Theater treated Girls5Eva fans to an early screening of two episodes from season three—and a complimentary box of the theater’s popcorn!
After an introduction from Meredith Scardino, fans cheered for the return of their favorite girl group as each of their names popped up during the show’s theme song sequence.
In true pop diva style, Netflix threw an afterparty at the Valerie in midtown NYC that guests will remember 5eva. Guests enjoyed small bites and specially-themed beverages while mingling in the two-level bar and restaurant as the DJ spun tracks from female pop legends (Girls5Eva included, of course.) Sara, Renée, Busy, and Paula were in attendance, as well as season three guest star Richard Kind.
All three seasons of Girls5Eva will be available to stream on Netflix starting Friday, March 14!
