On The Scene: The Fader Presents “Countin’ Up”

Last Monday, The Fader hosted the premiere screening of Rico Nasty documentary “COUNTIN’ UP.”

The fun-filled night, hosted at Baby’s All Right, included an intimate Q&A with Rico Nasty and film director Orian Barki, led by The Fader senior editor Lawrence Burney. Dj Miss Milan also curated vibes by bumping music throughout the night. During the Q&A Rico opened up and got vulnerable. She let it be known that women are not b****** for showing emotion, she encouraged and empowered women to be open and more honest with their emotions. She also shared anecdotes and crazy fan stories about swapping saliva.

While the Q&A was a little more lighthearted, the documentary itself shed light on what Rico deals with as a single mother and artist. The emotional, yet raw documentary sheds light on Rico’s past and present, including her relationship with her deceased, baby daddy. During a vulnerable moment, Rico remembers her baby father’s tragic death caused by an asthma attack. Fans will gain a newfound respect for the 21-year-old Maryland rapper and mother after watching her daily challenges and victories on the road to success and motherhood. Check out the beautiful and honest documentary available exclusively via The Fader.
