On February 11th, 2019 Tresemmé NYFW stylist, Odile Gilbert, showed us her take on “fresh” natural hair styling on a variety of textures for the Carolina Herrera AW’19 fashion show.
For AW’19 Carolina Herrara creative director, Wes Gordon presented a collection of sophisticated yet fun styles. Models strut down the runway with “fresh” hair styled by Tresemmé’s very own NYFW stylist Odile Gilbert.
While backstage, Odile gave me the scoop on the inspiration for the hair styling techniques used. “The key word here is fresh; we’re keeping the hair fresh by working with the natural texture of each model.” Amongst the many models were various textures of hair that presented different takes on what “fresh” hair would be. While some models had naturally straight hair, many had anywhere from wavy to curly/kinky textures.

“This look is all about enhancing your natural texture and style.” Odile shared while using ‘Tresemmé Curl Hydrate Leave-In Curl Cream’ on models curly/kinky hair to accentuate and define their natural texture. Watching Odile and her team work with such various textured hair exposed the versatility Tresemmé products has to offer.
For straighter texture hair models light heat styling using a flat iron created natural waves. In addition to heat styling ‘Tresemmé Between Washes Volumizing Dry Shampoo’ aided in adding texture and movement to the hair.

To see such a variety of natural hair textures at Carolina Herrara AW’19 is major. Tresemmé and Odile brought representation to the NYFW runway. For many, (especially those of us with curls and kinks) to see hair that looks like their own presented as beautiful at a major fashion show means visibility and inclusion. While the topic of representation has maneuvered to the forefront of conversations in fashion and beauty in recent years, Tresemmé adds the element of accessibility. Tresemmé ‘Curl Hydrate Leave-In Cream’ as well as the ‘Between Wash Volumizing Dry Shampoo’ retail for $4.99.
