After light mingling, the guest were escorted to their seats in the theater and met with complimentary bags of gourmet popcorn and refreshments. The first episode, “Chile,” took center stage, highlighting how Renee’s appreciation of the pepper began as a young child, watching the men of his community consume the peppers in between servings of their lunch and dinner courses. From various regions in South America, to the streets and street-kitchens of Bangkok and through the fields in Louisiana where we learned about the aging of Tabasco sauce, the docuseries takes it viewers on a journey to learn of the variations in heat to the many uses, preservation methods, and curings of the peppers for human consumption. The informative episode was followed up with a fireside chat by Redzepi and Matt Goulding; the chat moderated by Francis Lam, the journalist and host of The Splendid Table. Wholesome and hearty in speech, Redzepi and Goulding alike, selected each word with care as they shared the journey of curating the docuseries.

Aiming to enrich the audience with the transcendental impact of their undertaking, both creators appeared to savor the substance of their experience, urging us  to be a part of the visual depiction of the foods, the stories of the many lands that these foods cover, and even the wildlife that consume the very same ingredients, connecting us all under the same sky on this Earth that we call home. “Omnivore” is a 7- Episode series, narrated by Reneě Redzepi, who surprisingly has little screen time throughout the entire viewing. His purpose in this was to focus on the Earth, its offerings of the food it brings us and the people who depend on the harvesting of their agriculture. “Omnivore,” explores the ingredients that built societies, shaped our beliefs, and forever altered the human story. From salt flats in Peru to coffee forests in Rwanda to wild tuna off the coast of Spain, each episode of “Omnivore” celebrates the way we grow, transform, and consume the world’s best resources – the ones we eat – such as chile, tuna, salt, banana, pig, rice, coffee, and corn.

Following the conversation, guests were treated to a reception featuring a special menu from friends of Noma, the acclaimed New York City Mexican cuisine, Cosme and Esse Taco.

“Omnivore” is produced for Apple by FIFTH SEASON and Film 45 with executive producers Chris Rice, Redzepi, Ben Liebmann, Matt Goulding, Michael Antinoro, Max Wagner, Collin Orcutt, Mateo Willis.
