NYC’s Newest Lounge Coby Club Brings The Glitz And Glam To NYC Nightlife

A lounge with amazing food and drinks that you can also Instagram story to make all your friends jealous

Right now in New York City, the weather is getting nicer, the restaurant and bar scene is opening back up, and everyone is itching to get back out and have some fun again.  And with NYC being one of the biggest restaurant and bar hubs in the world, it is no surprise that you find new places opening up left and right now.  But if you are truly looking for a magical and chic night out, we recommend checking out the newest speakeasy bar around called Coby Club.

Coby Club is conveniently located in the heart of Chelsea and can be found beneath Elmo restaurant.  This chic underground lounge pays homage to the 1960’s San Francisco Chinatown nightlife and to the late Miss Coby Yee.  And to truly honor Miss Coby Yee, the amazing exotic dancer of the past, the interior of Coby Club is decorated just to her style.  Upon entering the lounge you cannot help but notice the black velvet banquettes and the crushed velvet and silk adoring the walls.  And guests at Coby Club can expect a night that feels lavish and sexy from the intimate seating arrangements that makes everyone feel like a VIP all the way to the amazingly delicious craft cocktails and small plates that can be ordered.

Along with the amazing decor and ambiance, Coby Club stands in a league of its own with their delicious and innovative cocktails. If you’re looking for a drink that stimulates your palette and gives you a nice kick, we highly recommend trying the Forbidden City.  Made with gold tequila, fresh mango puree, fresh lime, a hint of cayenne, and a chili salt rim, this drink gives you all the spice you could ever want in a drink that ends up being perfectly balanced by the mango puree.  There is the perfect amount of heat paired with notes of fruitiness from the mango and brightness coming from the fresh lime.

Now if you’re the type of person who enjoys more of a sweeter and fruit-forward drink to go with your night, the Coby Cosmo is something that is sure to please.  Made with vodka, orange liquor, fresh key lime, and passion fruit puree, this drink brings all the pleasures of a sweet cocktail to life.  The passion fruit puree brings a lovely brightness to the drink that pairs well with the key lime.  And as you keep drinking, you’ll notice that there are more and more hints of the orange liqueur that come through and meld well with the citrus.  What’s even better about this drink is that, unlike other cosmos, you can’t feel the vodka in the back of your throat so it can definitely be a drink that is enjoyable at any moment of the night.

The last drink we are going to highlight was actually our favorite drink of the evening which was the Burnt Orange Old-Fashioned which was made with rye whiskey, sweet grapefruit liqueur, aromatic bitters, and a burnt orange rind. We had this drink last and it made for the perfect nightcap drink to have after we tasted some of the cocktails above.  The whiskey was of great quality and you’re able to taste that immediately.  The burnt orange gave a lovely smokiness that paired well with the smokiness of the whiskey and adding in some of the sweet grapefruit liqueur gave the drink enough balance where you didn’t feel overwhelmed by the typical bitterness you tend to get in old-fashioned drinks.

And for food, there are a variety of small plates to enjoy such as the Flatbread Pizzetta with mushrooms, onions, bacon, ricotta, and swiss cheese, the Ham & Swiss Croquettes, a Charcuterie Board featuring assorted cheeses, meats and cornichons, Crispy Potatoes, Shishito Peppers with lemon and sea salt, and Marinated Olives.

Overall, Coby Club is a spot we will definitely be coming back to.  It is a spot where you can go to impress your friends or take your date out for a guaranteed good time.  From amazing cocktails to delicious small plates, Coby Club is going to be one of the coolest lounges you will ever step foot in.
