A Preview Of The NBA Finals

by Staff June 1, 2016
written by Staff

Here we are again, the last two standing out of 30 teams. Both teams have been battled tested and are four wins away from a NBA Championship. Cleveland Cavilers versus Golden State Warriors, back-to-back NBA Finals matchup.

Last year, Golden State defeated the Cavilers (4-2).  Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving suffered a leg injury, which put LeBron James in a position to carry the load unaccompanied. Unfortunately, it was not enough firepower to sojourn the “Splash Brothers” and the 2015 NBA Finals MVP Andre Iguodala.

This year the Cavs are ready for a rematch. Their three healthy superstars (James, Irving, and Love) and supporting cast have swept their first two opponents this postseason. Therefore they should be well rested for Thursdays Game 1.  Although, the Warriors were lethargic the first three games of the Western Conference Finals, they regained their swagger and confidence, becoming the 10th team in NBA history to come back from a 3-1 deficit.

The Finals will be extremely fascinating because Curry will have to play defense instead of relaxing and helping off of Andre Roberson. Everyone on the Cavilers can score the basketball from Kyrie Irving to Mo Williams. Cleveland have their hands full as well, they have the chance to defeat whom maybe the best team in NBA history.

Japan On ‘Alert’ For Potential North Korean Missile Strike

by Bageot Dia May 31, 2016
written by Bageot Dia

North Korea continues to perpetuate fear in the pacific; this time, forcing Japan to be on edge.

Among the peaceful commemoration of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki attacks came warnings from the Japanese government — with subsequent counter-measures to a potential missile strike. _88584524_kim2reuters

Japan has administered it’s military forces and calls for a “high-alert” warning — after North Korea purportedly motioned for a missile launch towards one of it’s closest neighbors.

The Sea of Japan was decorated with naval ships, including naval destroyers and anti-ballistic missile Patriot batteries Monday morning, anticipating the worst. Tensions have been high in the region since North Korea’s fourth nuclear weapons demonstration last January — accompanied by a slew of satellite launches, and various other missile launches.

The North Korean rocket in question has been assumed to be an intermediate-range Musudan Missile with a radius of about 4000km. Such a rocket could very well permeate South Korea, Japan, and many other countries. The tests that were conducted by North Korea prompted immediate action by the United Nations, including stricter sanctions on the country.

This has been the second time that Japan has imposed high-level warnings in regards to North Korean missile tests this year.

South Korea has remained vigilant on the matter, with officials stating that they are “fully prepared” for any conflict.
