The male romper was originally a business experiment for the men behind RompHim, the company behind this conversation causing internet frenzy. The introduction video on their Kickstarter site is actually pretty hilarious, you can watch it here. They basically wanted to take something that was only for women and make it for men. Plot twist, the male romper is more bathroom accessible than the female one, it has a zipper and fly. The romper is also equipped with a back pocket, something women’s clothes never seem to have – like ever. They’ve raised over $160K (and are still raising money) to make this trend happen.
When twitter got a hold of the images of the male romper idea and the images of the prototypes, everything got wild. Many twitter users ridiculed the idea while others thought it was a genius. The romper was compared to similar men’s fashion pieces such as the overalls, jumpsuits, and onesies. The male romper has been the topic of conversation for over two days and some clever memes and tweets have been created around the subject. Here are a few I thought were absolute gems:
